  • Liposomes are microscopic vesicles composed of a lipid bilayer, similar to the structure of cell membranes.  Liposomes are small in size, typically ranging from 50 to 200 nanometers. This small size allows them to penetrate the skin's outermost layer, the stratum corneum, more easily. They can pass through the lipid rich intercellular spaces and reach the deeper layers of the skin.

  • Liposomes have a unique structure that allows them to encapsulate both water-soluble and lipid-soluble molecules.
