Is the BioMat a Class II or Class III Medical Device?
The BioMat has been Approved as a Class II Medical device for over a decade. Then in 2009, the Manufacturer (RichWay International) looked into getting a Class III status and it qualified on all levels. Yet it was also discovered that if it became a Class III, then it would be available only through a Physician or by a physician's prescription only.
After some deliberation, the parent company RichWay decided to "get the BioMat into the hands of more people"; so they opted to keep the Class II status even though it passed as a Class III. (Class III devices are considered 'life saving' - things like pacemakers and heart valves.)
We call it a 'durable medical device' because it is terminology understood by the medical & insurance communities.
I have metal in my body. Will the heat from the BioMat heat up the metal?
No. Metal implants acquired from a joint replacement (such as knee or hip) or broken bone repaired with rod will not heat up from the BioMat. You may feel sensations as the effects of the BioMat release adhesions and scar tissue as oxygenation and blood flow improves. All in all, it's a great tool to have to avoid future surgery by improving flow and function in all the joints.
